Kids Are Tough!
If you have kids or have been around them for any extended period of time, then you know they can be- what’s the word…temperamental. Whether it’s the short attention span or random bouts of crying, photographing them can prove to be a difficult task!
On this recent mother/son shoot, it was in the upper 30’s and to make matters worse, it was windy. I knew the challenge going into it, so me and the mother made a few preparations with little Bennet: make sure he’s all rested up (naptime does wonders), he’s eaten plenty and to ensure he stays warm with the right clothes but still looking stylish ;-)
Let me say that even WITH the preparations, this little guy seriously surprised me and exceeded my expectations. He was just a little ball of happiness that laughed basically the entire time despite the chilly temperature. I had an absolute blast shooting their pics! Even though kids can be quite the challenge when it comes to portraits, I honestly love doing them and find them super rewarding in the end. And those cheeks tho!
